Within the framework of increasing importance of renewable energy sources, Trakya Cam activates stage by stage the investments of a patterned glass plant with a capacity of 72.000 tons/year and an energy glass processing plant to process those patterned glasses, next to the existing Mersin-Tarsus patterned glass plant, to supply low-iron energy glass used in solar cells and collectors. Energy glass processing plant was inaugurated in July 2010 and the first line of the new patterned glass plant started opration in June 2011 and the second line started operation in November 2011.

In light of developments in automotive sector, Automotive Glass Group is continuing its investments in Turkey to develop new products and foster quality, and in addition pursues   regional strategic development projects.

Trakya Cam will realize its investments in Russia with Saint-Gobain in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in the Republic of Tatarstan. The ground-breaking of the flat glass, mirror and coated glass plants was realized on May 4, 2010. Among the plants that will be realized with a total investment amount of 250 million $, the flat glass plant will be commissioned in 2013 at first hand.

 

Moreover, in September 2011, Trakya Cam and Saint-Gobain Sekurit signed a Joint Venture Agreement for the production and sale of automotive glass. The JV facility, which will be realized in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in the Republic of Tataristan, will make a production of 800.000 car-sets (windshields, sidelites and backlites) at full capacity.

Trakya Cam, within the corporate body of Trakya Polatlı Cam Sanayii A.Ş., decided to make investments for the establishment of two flat glass lines in the Organized Industrial Zone in Ankara-Polatli. The company will reach eight flat glass (float) lines in Turkey with these two new flat glass lines which will gradually start operation by 2013.

Trakya Cam continues to grow in Bulgaria in addition to Turkey and Russia with new investments with in the context of its strong growth and regional development strategy.
