Trakya Cam is the first company to deploy the "float technology" among the East European, Balkan, Middle Eastern and North African countries with its first float line that became operational in 1981. Trakya Cam has pioneered the development of the flat glass industry in Turkey and in the region with its investments of float glass, automotive glass, processed glasses and through its wide range of product portfolio.
With an increasing capacity, Trakya Cam ranks among the top eight flat glass companies in the world and top four companies in Europe by production volume. The company has reached the level of $ 752 million net sales with its 2.886 employees in FY 2008.
In accordance with its vision of "leadership in the region" and its strategy of "multi-focus production", Trakya Cam inaugurated the first float line of the Balkan Region in March 2006 under the identity of Trakya Glass Bulgaria EAD, which is the subsidiary of Trakya Cam.
Moreover, Trakya Cam, via its subsidiary of Trakya Yenişehir Cam Sanayii A.Ş., continues its fast growth in Turkey through its investments of the 5th float line that started production in June 2007, a coated glass plant that started production in June 2007, the 6th float line that became operational in November 2007 and the laminated glass plant was inaugurated in October 2008.
Targeting the Russian market, in order to initiate research and feasibility studies for a new float line investment within the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in the Republic of Tatarstan, a feasibility study protocol was signed with the Tatar Republic Local Administration of the Russian Federal Agency for Management of Special Economic Zones on 14 February 2009.
Trakya Cam and Saint-Gobain Glass have agreed to jointly develop their flat glass (float) activities in Egypt and Russia and thus signed a memorandum of understanding.
Trakya Cam acquired 14.87% stake in Saint-Gobain’s investment project in Egypt, alongside a local partner.
In addition, a joint venture will be set up between Trakya Cam and Saint-Gobain for the construction of a float line in Russia, in the Republic of Tatarstan.
Through its production and market structure, customer oriented approach, its focus on R&D, export potential, qualified human resource and realized and continuing investment projects, Trakya Cam has the ambition to reinforce its strength, while growing further.
