The ground-breaking of Trakya Cam’s flat glass, mirror, and coated glass plants was realized in a ceremony with the participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on May 4, 2010.
Şişecam, one of the world’s leading groups in the field of glass, now initiates its flat glass investments in Russia, after the investments it has been realized in the field of glass packaking and glassware in this country since the beginning of 2000s.

Trakya Cam’s flat glass investments in Russia in accordance with the agreement signed by Şişecam and Saint-Gobain to jointly develop flat glass activities in Egypt and Russia and thus a great synergy will be created.
The ground-breaking of Trakya Cam’s flat glass, mirror, and coated glass plants was realized in a ceremony with the participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov and Chairman of Şişecam, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman on May 4, 2010. Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ildar Shafkatovich Halikov, Chairman of Trakya Cam Gülsüm Azeri, officials of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Şişecam managers also participated the ceremony.
Among the plants that will be realized with a total investment amount of 250 million $ and are the subjects of ground-breaking ceremony, the flat glass plant and the mirror line will be commissioned in 2012 at first hand and the coated glass plant will start operation in 2013. The facilities that will be equipped with the highest technology and built by Şişecam’s know–how will employ 380 people.
With this investment move in the Republic of Tatarstan, Trakya Cam will become a local producer also in Russia after Turkey, Bulgaria, and Egypt, and take an important step towards its goal of regional growth in the field of flat glass.
